Sono stata insegnante per 16 anni nelle scuole primarie statali italiane. Rimasta vedova precocemente, ho lasciato l’insegnamento per seguire i miei due splendidi ragazzi, ora di 22 e 16 anni che ho cresciuto da sola.. Anzi non proprio: devo riconoscere che un grosso contributo mi è stato fornito dai miei Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

       Il rapporto con i cani ha educato i miei ragazzi all’attenzione ai bisogni dell’altro, alla soddisfazione data delle esperienze autentiche, alla gioia de piccoli momenti buffi della vita quotidiana, all’impegno costante di ogni giorno verso la cura e la comunicazione con altri linguaggi, alla passione che nasce dall’osservarne i comportamenti e con la curiosità spinge allo studio. E che ha condotto me a ricerche continue nel settore cinotecnico e all’impegno divulgativo sia verso le famiglie, che nella condivisione del mio percorso con chi muove i primi passi con entusiasmo nel mondo dell’allevamento etico.

My name is Mariolina Zanandrea,
I was a teacher for many years in some Italian primary schools. I became a widow unfortunately early so I decided to leave this job to look after my two beautiful sons, who are now 22 and 16 years old and that I have raised as a widow and alone  .. not really alone..: my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels helped me a lot !!!!
The relation with the dogs has taught my kids to pay attention to the needs of others, given the satisfaction of real things, the joy of funny little moments of everyday life, the constant commitment of each day on caring, and the passion that emerged has inspired me to continue research efforts in the field and in the commitment to inform.
I live in Conegliano for now,  in the hills of Venice mainland, but I have plans to build a B & B in Tuscany.


My first dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was Milla (Ultraviolet of the Realm) kindly given me by Mrs. Helene Cavalli of French origin, passionate and respected breeder in Italy

From then on, I became passionate about the process of growth and education of the puppies I was able to attend more than one dog training course with excellent trainers, including some referees for the School of Animals/ Men Interaction,  Roberto Marchesini, Mrs. Mentaschi of the Viridea School of Milan, Paolo Villani from Fidenza and many more amongst veterinarians, competent and conscious behaviourists

At the same time, through the active collaboration with two Italian breeders,  I followed  an internship  assisting in more than one litter both in the farm as well as in my house.

Besides the above, I also entered the colorful world of dogshow learning to get greater benefit in terms of learning, both from farmers,  many judges and other professionals.

This way I gained a safe management of  the birth and weaning and I started looking for a female in Europe from a  good selection, to mate with clear indications from  his/her breeder to obtain a litter of excellent quality.

From the French small farm of M.me Rouillon I had then Pétite, Bugatti de Sophline, a typical and healthy female for which I received excellent reviews in the most prestigious zootechnical  events.
Furthermore, the collaboration with Wendy Lhote ( Woodville), allowed me to get a good reproductive success and even the expectation of a very special female (Emma) Donna Summer of Woodville.
I am proud to say that the brothers and sisters of Emma were accepted in three of the most serious and famous breeding farms of Germany, France and the USA.

I am very grateful to those breeders who have given me confidence and have entrusted me with their best puppies  and keep following and teaching me a lot about the proper selection of CKCS.

My way of working provides for a maximum of two litters a year, with carefully studied mating on the basis of medical data, genetic and phenotypic, obviously in consultation with the farm of origin of my females.

I am very strict in controlling congenital pathologies  following European protocols, although in Italy they are not required. (I'm busy on that front to get us more strictly!)
These choices have given me great satisfaction: pups born to me are typical, adhering to the FCI Standard 136, they are healthy and ... one in particular has reached an important position at the Euro dog show in October as well as at a series of BOB in Italy ! !

My dream is to be able to see my puppies grow up loved, cared for, with positive results on the selection and morphological character, working to obtain typical subject  .. All this with a humble attitude and paying  great attention and respect for those who are working with seriousness and competence for  much longer a time than me ...

I support the participation in zootechnical checks (commonly known as dog-shows) throughout the puppies growing period , until they reach full growth: this makes possible a continuous assessments with dog experts and with skilled and experienced breeders .. In addition, participation in these events allow us to observe, especially abroad, a large number of subjects and to learn how to analyze their characteristics with a keen eye, learning a lot about strength and weakness of a breed.
Of course I am not a ribbon hunter ,  I am in perfect harmony with Hans Boelaars (Lamslag Kennel) when he says:

"sometimes it seems that the dog world is becoming more and more competitive, but we must not forget that we all started out as a result of our passion for dogs. We should try to relax and love our dogs for no reason other than that they are our dogs.
The dog world should not be about power or winning. "


I also believe in practical participation in activities related to dog breeders and the like:

Threfore I became a member of the Club for toy dog, for the protection of the CKCS breed in Italy, where I have been working for years in the field of information of the Club activities with visitors to the ENCI (Italian National Dog Authority) exhibitions;

I am a member of the ENCI delegation of the province of Treviso;

I  am also a dog “educationalist”, specializing in the introduction of the puppy in the family, my particular interest in the subject prompts me to look for and attend courses, internships and workshops with a view to lifelong learning.
 
NB: I am waiting shortly now for  the FCI to be named as that of the  "Colle di Giano"
I selected  this name because Conegliano, the city where my passion started and where I now live, was supposedly  built on a hill dedicated to Janus of Greek mythology.
